Signed long-term agreement for Hydro Pioneer

The lice hunter Hydro Pioneer is back in the ring again, after the service company kb. has secured agreements with a leading aquaculture company.

The converted supply boat Hydro Pioneer is being prepared again for non-drug control of sea lice along the Norwegian coast for the next four years.

Entering into a 3-year contract

The vessel will be put into operation for the customer as early as the end of July 2024. From July next year, Hydro Pioneer into a three-year fixed contract, after the Rørvik-based service company kb. has secured agreements with a leading salmon producer. The timecharter agreement also includes options for extension.

– We are happy that Hydro Pioneer will once again utilize its capacities to help combat the lice challenges in the Norwegian salmon industry. The signed agreements provide security for 14 jobs in our shipping operations for several years to come, says the shipping manager Are Brekk .

In February, it was announced that Hydro Shipping had acquired the diving and service company KB-Gruppen. The companies' combined range of services will now be continued under the kb. brand and will include diving services, delousing and service services for the aquaculture industry.

Shows great interest

As part of kb.'s commitment to diving and service services that safeguard fish health, including in deep-sea operations, the company has invested in two new diving vessels and tripled the number of employees. The company is now already looking for new, competent crew.

– We do not have a goal to become the largest service company, but with the interest we are now experiencing for our services and expertise, we can become one within some segments.
